For a guy who doesn’t show his face, Sound Remedy sure wears his heart on his sleeve. The man has the soul of a songwriter, and his talent as a remixer is finding the vibe of a song and elaborating on it until that vibe consumes you, which makes sense, because his own tracks are infused with the same quality. Just in time for summer, the masked maestro is back with two remixes that should be pumping out of your sunroof right now. Both tracks are hard to pigeonhole genre-wise, but what do you expect from a guy who only classifies his songs under “Sound Remedy” on Soundcloud?
The first is a remix of Lisa Mitchell’s “Neapolitan Dreams.” It’s a sunny, chillstep affair – the type of track you play driving down a rocky coast on the way to Pacha for some daytime lounging when you’re just feeling good about life. It’s good to see Sound Remedy taking advantage of space and timing in the drop in an old-school-dubstep way, which contrasts perfectly with Lisa Mitchell’s ethereal vocals. His remix to KO KO’s “Float”, meanwhile, strikes a perfect balance between high-energy and morose, creating a vibe that’s perfect for summertime chilling. Think Miike Snow and Adventure Club collaborating, and you’ll get an idea what this track’s about. Apparently I’m not the only one loving it, too, because it hit #3 on Hypem last week.
