The Reincarnation of Filo & Peri: Subzero Reviewed 0

People who have been following Filo & Peri’s releases since 2003 — which included a Billboard #1 and UK Top40 single — may be caught a little off guard by their new sound. A lot of artists reinvent themselves over the course of their careers – a progression that I think is not only natural but necessary. While most lose themselves on the way to discovering new sides of their creativity, a talented few really do manage to take what they were originally good at, and make it better. Filo & Peri are part of the latter and their latest track, “Subzero”, is proof of that. With thumping drums and a synth line reminiscent of Cosmic Gate’s “The Theme”, “Subzero” is the kind of big-stadium progressive that you’d expect to see about a third into a set, right when it’s time to get the crowd jumping. It’s definitely a high energy affair, meaning while it would kill at a festival, it may not be the best track to play when you’re looking to relax at night and that’s fine, because if you’re someone who relaxes at night, this post is probably not directed at you. But for the rest of us who shit confetti and see the world in strobe? Filo & Peri’s “Subzero” hits the spot.
