Ferry Corsten’s ‘WKND’ Reviewed 0

You leave work on a Friday afternoon, “A Day Without Rain” is blasting in your car. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping even though it’s miserably gray out and the only thing colder, would be a naked picnic on a frozen lake next to a sad looking seal in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
You got a bad case of the WKND and by bad – I mean fucking good.

The night starts creeping up, the freaks come out to play and you’re starting to really Feel It. At this point, you know there Ain’t No Stoppin. Ben Hague’s vocals fill the air and right when you’re scared it’s about to get too saccharine, it kicks in and you decide you’re Not Coming Down.

It’s Saturday night and you’re still trying to piece together the events from the night before. You get a call to go to another debauchery-filled party but you don’t know if you have it in you. Suddenly you hear that devilishly convincing voice, “Don’t be Afraid, you won’t Live Forever so why not Check it Out?”, it says.

You step into the venue, the walls are shaking and the energy’s so intense it’s about to blow the roof off of the place. The crowd is losing itself to “Brute” and you instantly know tonight’s going to be a great night.
Through the beaming green lasers, you spot that person you hoped you’d run into and now everyone can see it In Your Eyes because as cheesy as it sounds? Love Will make it right. A whisper in your ear says Take Me so you Walk on Air into the night and bid adieu to an unforgettable WKND.

Ferry Corsten’s latest album encompasses the magic of the weekend. Vocals dominate the album but I personally love it. I’ve had “Love Will”, “Let You Go”, and “In Your Eyes” stuck in my head all week, singing at the top of my lungs in traffic like I’m JES one minute and Sarah Bettens the other.

With a little bit of poppiness, some mainstream big room house tracks, and an abundance of vocals – haters will have a field day with this album. A recent comment I heard was that WKND doesn’t sound like a Ferry Corsten album should. Excuse me, Mr. Haterdickhead, who made YOU the dictator of dance music?

It’s 2012 – the world changes every day. The music you listen to now is different from the music you listened to last year. YOU are not the same person you were back then, so why do we have to force Ferry Corsten to stay in the past forever? Evolution is great. Without it, none of us would be here. Without artists evolving we’d have nothing to listen to. A tip to the haters: Get your heads out of your asses and wipe the shit out of your ears because Ferry Corsten’s WKND is nothing short of a great time.

Ferry Corsten’s WKND comes out February 24th.
