This week, I received The Crane Stand to review. If you’ve missed out on the hype already created by Serato Scratch users, then The Crane Stand is the only DJ laptop stand made in the USA and the highest quality adjustable laptop stand on the market. With an overall weight of about 3lbs, The Crane Stand also ranks high in convenience and portability…unless you’re an infant.

I gave it a closer look, played around with it, abused it a little and tested it in various positions and angles to test its durability in different situations. I tried to find some faults and while I could only find very few, the pros far outweighed the cons.

Set up:
First off, I was afraid that I’d have to spend the day figuring out unclear instruction manuals and putting together things with other things and I strongly dislike unbuilt things because I don’t like doing anything. For my lazy unhandy soul, this was perfect. Right out of the bag and ready for action, all I had to do was manually adjust two levers and as soon as I realized how easy it was, I was ready to go.

Durability:
For fans of aesthetics, the black coating on The Crane Stand easily scratched within a few minutes of messing with it but its sturdiness didn’t let down. You can surely sacrifice a few scratches for the confidence in knowing that no matter what you’re throwing at it, it’s made to take it.

Creativity Options:
The Crane Stand gives you numerous possibilities to adjust to the set up you’re working with.
Although it’s a simple looking stand, it truly delivers in its capability to remain a quality product in different angles and positions.
I set it up under my mixer and also tried to see how it stands alone, both were quick, convenient, and made the experience of using a laptop in a set a comfortable one. The only problem I had was when I set it up under the DJ case, the stand leg threw the case off balance but I’m a DJ not a physicist so I put some paper under both sides of the case to give it more support and moved on.

All in all, considering what DJs really look for in a laptop stand is a strong quality product they can trust and be confident in, The Crane Stand will not only get the job done but it will also eliminate any fear of your laptop collapsing in the middle of a gig.
